Fabulous Holiday Accommodation in Whitby

Things To Do

Whitby is an ancient seaport and fishing village which has been a haven for holiday makers since Victorian times. Today it is the go-to all year round resort on the East Coast. Well known for its long sandy beaches, Abbey and historic old town. With its fantastic eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, cafes and tea rooms you will be spoilt for choice!

The ruins of Whitby Abbey stand prominently on the cliff top and can be reached by climbing the 199 steps from the old town. The Abbey is said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stokers novel Count Dracula, and its gothic splendour is the perfect place to take in some truly stunning views over the town, harbour and coastline. Steeped in history the harbour is the perfect place to see where British explorer Captain Cook first worked as an apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. A statue of this great explorer along with some huge whalebones, are a sign of the towns maritime history. Today the harbour is a buzz of activity from the early morning fishing through to the late-night restaurants and bars.

There is always something happening in this vibrant town, with festivals, fairs and shows throughout the year. Whitby folk week, regatta and the two popular Goth festivals are to name but a few.
